Ash is the mineral content in the fuel that remains in oxidized form after combustion. The ash content and its composition have a major impact on the operation of a gasifier or a furnace. Higher ash content lowers the energy available and more space must be provided where the ash can be discharged, the composition of the ash determines the slagging temperature of the ash. If the temperature in the combustion zone rises to the ash melting point, the ash will melt and the molten mass will form clinkers, clinging to the internal surface, tuyers and grate. It will severely affect the fuel flow and may result in failure of the complete system
