The PAD’s protest strategy was mainly to conduct a peaceful demonstration on the streets of Bangkok with the aim of eliminating Thaksin and uprooting his regime through political reform. Various PAD political demonstrations were held in Bangkok as well as in provincial cities, even in the TRT‘s popular areas. At the same time, pro-Thaksin government groups were mobilized by local administrators to counter the PAD movement in Bangkok. Most of the counter-PAD protest groups were rural people from the north and north-eastern parts of Thailand. However, the pro-government protest movements were guided by the state authorities and did not form into a solid, unified organization.
