4.3.3. Further Opportunities for Academics' Experience and Professional Development
While some participants expressed anxieties about working in an unfamiliar cultural environment, all acknowledged the opportunities the TNEP offered for developing their teaching and communication skills. Participants also recognised the opportunities to extend their knowledge from subject level to overall programme level. The potential to extend these opportunities to a broader range of academics was identified, with the added benefit of “spreading the load”.
“Other opportunities would be continuing to refine principles around teaching international students who don't have English as their first language. That's an ongoing opportunity for teaching style and presenting information. Working through conversation and working out groups and how social skills work and I think the more I am exposed to that the more I will learn and the better my teaching will become.”
