As it can be seen in Fig. 3, these results are quite different from the ones obtained worldwide (Vílchez et al., 1995), where the most common type of accident is release, followed by fire and then explosion.
The total percentages add up to more than 100% because a particular accident may, strictly speaking, involve more than one event (e.g. release followed by explosion).
