It has been demonstrated through the breakage characterisation
that the breakage index (t10) is closely related to the input
energy, and Eq. (9) can well describe the t10 in relation to the input
specific energy and particle properties. During the JKFBC tests, the
material breakage characteristic parameters (M, p, q) are determined
from the known input specific energy levels E and the output
t10. However, in a batch grinding ball mill, the specific energy
input is no longer a constant for all size fractions. A size-specific
energy variable Ei is introduced in the specific energy-based breakage
function (Eq. (11)) to calculate the breakage index t10 based on
