Abstract
Many citiesorganizeculturalfestivalstopromotetheirdistinctiveness,boostthelocal
economy,andenhancequalityoflife.However,urbanspacesarepackedwithvisitorson
festival days,thusaffectingaccessibilitytopedestrianspaces.Thisresearchexaminedvisitor
satisfaction withaccessibilitytopedestrianspacesduringspecialeventssuchasfestivals.We
particularly focusedonthe Hakata Dontaku festival, whichiscelebratedinFukuoka,Japan.We
studied threemainelementsthataffectpedestriansatisfactionandperceivedaccessibility
through walking,namely,safety,mobility,andamenities.We first analyzedpreviousstudiesand
employed analyticalhierarchyprocesstosetupindicatorsforsatisfactionmeasurement.
Second, wedeterminedvisitorsatisfactionthroughasurveyquestionnaire,whichwas
conducted duringthe Hakata Dontaku festival. Third,weassessedthenormalityofthedata
set thatwasobtainedfromthequestionnaire.Finally,weappliedstructuralequationmodeling.
Resultsshowedthattheproposedmodelwasagood fit, asindicatedbythegoodnessof fit test,
and themajorityofindicatorsloadedsignificant valuesthatsupportedtheirconstructs.
Satisfaction withamenitieswasfoundtobethemoststatisticallysignificant variablethat
influences visitors'perceivedaccessibilityduringthe Hakata Dontaku festival.
