Since, prostaglandins are also involved in the pain perception; inhibition of their synthesis might be the possible reason for the analgesic activity of the methanolic extract. The presence of flavonoid identified might be responsible for the analgesic and anti-inflammatory activities in methanolic extract.
Thus, it is concluded that the methanolic extract of aerial parts of Jatropha gossypifolia produces significant analgesic and anti-inflammatory activities in dose dependent manner.
