Ranking the domains for each criterion
Sheep and cattle farmers did not rank farming domains
within a criterion in the same order (Fig. 1). However
variability of the ranks was similar between species and
between criteria. The ranks with lowest variability were
observed in the satisfaction criterion for both species.
Domains ranked next to one another may have had no
real difference for farmers, who often consider several
domains to be linked together (i.e., considered as a whole in
the livestock system). Nonetheless, all farmers ranked
domainswithout assigning equal ranks (even though permitted
to do so). Three domain subgroups can be distinguished based
on their mean ranks (Fig. 1), those with high mean ranks
(close to 1), those with low mean ranks (close to 9) and those
in-between.
