Mitochondria during the breakdown of free oxygen radicals,
plays an important role in the regulation of neuronal cell metabolic
activity. As a result mitochondrial biogenesis, is activated in
response to cellular oxidative stress through a variety of
environmental stimuli and other signals. NRF-1 is a major
transcription factor in the human genome and majority of genes
coding subunits of the respiratory complex and functions in
neurite outgrowth. Experimental ischemia/reperfusion study that
looked at NRF-1 level and as a result decreased level of NRF–1 at
the induced neural ischemia and an in increase during reperfusion
period in normal and hyperglycemic rats [30]. We like study in this
as AV and MP groups, NRF-1 values were found higher than the
control group.
