This programme aims: develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding of ballet as a theatre art in the 20th and 21st centuries; to promote critical debate concerning the central issues facing ballet in the 21st century; to place ballet in the context of other, related art forms and develop knowledge and understanding of the relationships between the two; to encourage critical thinking about the relationship between training and performance; to develop nascent student skills and promote the expertise of students from non-traditional backgrounds; to enable students to develop professionally by extending their written, communication and organisational skills, thereby intensifying their knowledge of ballet and the problems it faces in the 21st century
