Transport infrastructure is increasingly controlled by the information and com-munication infrastructure of systems that are associated with the respective trans-port mode. This serves the purpose of improving the transport infrastructure’s quality. Examples for inland waterway transport include river information systems (water levels, lock allocation etc.) and automatic indentification systems. In sea transport, automatic identification systems are provided in the form of Internet applications and portals.4 Numerous telematics systems are available for road traffic transport in order to track vehicles and goods, to monitor rest and driving periods, and to capture data about tolls, traffic congestions and diversions.
