The Chinese team has missed the chance to make it into the final of the 17th Asia Senior Women's Volleyball Championship after losing to Thailand by 2-3.
China met host Thailand in the semi-finals and was a perfect 6-and-0 coming into the match-up. After four sets of a tight game, the two teams went into a decider. Inspired by the home crowd, Thailand edged their opponents.
This is the third time the teams have met this year and Chinese coach Lang Ping’s charge won the previous two encounters. Thailand is off to the final, while China is left to play in the third place game.
China failed to reach the final of the tournament for the first time since 1975. Coach Lang Ping said there is much to be improved.
"Our team is still short of experiences. But I think we don’t need to have regret in this game. All the players tried their best," Lang said.
"We’ve seen what we have achieved and at the same time, we’ve found out what needs to be improved. For example, the first pass and defense efforts still need improvement.
