Constructing a Case Study
Following data collection, the next challenge was the
design of the case studies themselves. Working from the
multiple data sources described above, the goal was to
represent the experiences of each child in a manner that
captured both the activity of the child and the context in
which this activity was unfolding. Furthermore, there were
many possible foci for each case study. To guide the
construction of the cases, the researchers began by generating
a set of claims about the opportunities and challenges
that students with learning disabilities experienced in
GIsML instruction. For each claim, there was supporting
evidence derived from the data.
