For v and w, the values predicted by schemes discussed earlier, are compared
with the observed values. Performance measures are used for comparing observed
and predicted values of v and w to obtain a thorough characterisation of the
scheme performance. For the sake of completeness the performance measures
considered in this study are defined as follows:
The statistical techniques for evaluating the various schemes are meant to provide
a straight assessment of scheme performance. The performance measures give
an idea of the discrepancy between predictions and observations. For each parameter
i.e., v or w, the values predicted by various schemes are compared to the
observed values.
The statistical evaluation of a scheme includes determination of the Fractional
Bias (FB), Geometric Mean Bias (MG), Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), NormalisedMean
Square Error (NMSE), GeometricMean Variance (VG), Correlation
