The results revealed that all students
used the inference strategies at each stage and
overall stage of reading at a moderate level.
When considering students at different
proficiency levels, it was found that high
proficiency students used the inference
strategies at the highest level whereas average
and low proficiency students used the
strategies at moderate and low level
respectively. According to the frequency of
inference strategies they used, the results
showed that high proficiency student always
used the strategies while average and low
proficiency students seldom used the strategies
when reading.
