poral variationintheverticalstructureofradarreflectivity with
local maximumduringthelatemorningandafternoonhours.
Relativelyshallowecho-topheightsareobservedduringthelate
night tillearlymorninghours.Itisfoundthatthecloudsare
generallyshallowwithradarechotopslessthan5kmexceptin
the afternoonhourswhenthecloudsgrowdeepertill8–9 km
with significant radarreflectivity values.Theobservationsof
shallow cloudsareconsistentwithearlierreportedresultsby
severalstudies(Sarker,1966, Konwaretal.,2012a, Konwaretal.,
2014). Thetemporalandstructuralevolutionsofthemonsoon
clouds ontheleeward(easternside)sideoftheWGare
reportedhereforthe first time.Thisemphasizestheimportance
of continuousobservationsofthecloudsbyremotesensing
techniqueselsewhere.
