Two teaching modules were compared in the research design. In the technology education teachingmodule, instruction was focused on the use of a traditional technology education approach, which included lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on activities. The STEM engineering design teaching module was aligned with engineering design processes and supplemented with integrative STEM knowledge via the use of virtual computer simulations and physical models. The STEMengineering design teachingmodule not only emphasized increasing students’ understanding ofmechanism concepts but also focused on promoting students’ abilities to use scientific and mathematics knowledge to predict, analyze, and solve engineering problems.
