Dunn's River Falls (Jamaica) The waterfall is around 300 metres high. It flows down the terraces looking like huge stair steps. Most of terraces are created by nature itself but a some of them are human-made additional ones. The area of Dunn’s River Falls contains a few small beautiful lagoons as well. Geologists describe this waterfall as an unique, “living” phenomenon because rich resources of calcium carbonate and sodium in the river’s water make the terraces keep on rebuilding themselves constantly. It is also one of very few waterfalls in the world which flow directly into the sea. The Dunn’s River Falls area offers a beautiful landscape full of green plants which give not only a great view but also cooling shadow. The popular tourist activity there is climbing up the waterfall, by stepping on terraces. It is not difficult to hike the waterfalls although the tour guide always can offer help.
