Follow the setup up procedure as described below:
1.) Push test SIM card into the transmitter (Comprion or similar) as shown in Figure 10, Figure 11
and Figure 12 in order to be able to work with a Radio Communication Tester like CMU200
from Rohde&Schwarz.
2.) Take transmitter device with AC/DC adapter, keep lid closed, and plug AC/DC adapter cable
into the Mini USB connector of the transmitter, located at the rear side of the transmitter, see
Figure 13.
3.) Plug AC/DC adapter into a mains power socket, see Figure 14.
4.) Open lid of transmitter device, see Figure 15. As soon as the lid is open an infrared scanning
will be automatically started and a GSM or UMTS network will be searched.
5.) Do not open the lid before supplying the transmitter with power as shown in Figure 16.
6.) Take the injection device and place it into the transmitter (like a docking station), see Figure
17.
7.) Power on the injection device by pressing the right button >3s, see Figure 18.
8.) A screen with the content shown in Figure 19 will pop up.
a. Explanation of the display content:
i. A 10 byte sequence is sent from the injection device to the transmitter over
infrared interface. If it is correctly received at the transmitter side the Good
counter at the injection device will be increased by one, otherwise the
Repeated counter will be increased by one and another try is done with the
same sequence.

Good counter is increased by 1. Received content shows 10, as all 10 bytes
have been received.
As soon as the injection device is place dinto the transmitter the GOOD
counting starts and the REPEATED counting stops. The amount of bytes is
shown as well (max 10). Without any transmitter in range only the REPEAT
counter is increased.
ii. A battery level value indicates the stored energy of the inserted batteries. The
injection device will switch off automatically when power is too low. This
procedure shall not happen during a planned measurement cycle so it is
recommended to check the battery level and change batteries if needed
before starting the dedicated measurement. It is recommended to change
batteries if the battery level changes from “Good” to “Low”. Figure 20 shows
the procedure of how doing a battery installing.
9.) The setup is running in this configuration until batteries are empty.
All in all this setup simulates almost real application behaviour. The advantage with the dedicated
EMC software is to be able to work in an automated way with a Radio communication tester in a
continuous transmission mode. That means RF power (PCL level), Frequency band etc. can be
selected as needed. In comparison the real device application SW starts sending data to a dedicated
database and closes the connection when data transfer is completed. For lab testing this is
sometimes not sufficient and therefore such an EMC SW has been developed.
