Chitpas Kridakorn announced at PDRC Pathumwan Stage 21st January 2014 that :
Chalerm Ubumrong announced today that the Cabinet has agreed to invoke emergency decree for 60 days effective from tomorrow. Chalerm would be in charge under this emergency decree and police chief Adul Sangsingkaew would be the director.
For almost 3 months we have protested against this government who turned down constitution court rulings, immense corruption and the abuse of governmental power.
From the start we have been protesting and demonstrating in peace with no use of violence. We have always kept the general public well informed of all our plans in advance. Yet the government has filed charges against us calling us rebels, freezing our bank accounts and so on.
When the government cannot win us by laws, they hired hit men to attack the innocent protesters using bombs and firearms continuously.
The government has lost eligibility since 9th December. Khun Suthep questioned how dare they claim sovereignty and announced state of emergency? When the government do not respect the law themselves.
The government has no right or reason to issue emergency decree as we have been protesting peacefully since we started. Khun Suthep Thaugsuban secretary to the PDRC said he will see whether tomorrow there will be any police, military or civil officers who will oblige to follow this government’s order.
Claiming the emergency decree gives the government power to arrest us. We want to inform this to the general public first. However, if you are not afraid and wants to continue this fight against this shameless government. Join us, we will continue our protest in civil disobedience.
We will step up a pace from tomorrow onwards to overthrow Yingluck government.
From now on we will cut all electricity and power supplies to the minister houses.
We urge the protesters to be discipline and listen to Khun Suthep, in any case of a crack down by the government, after the announcement of the emergency decree tomorrow.
Khun Suhtep said tonight, if the government announced State of Emergency to attack us. We will announce State of Emergency to counter attack the government.
Government officials from public health ministry, medical personnel who usually are not involved with politics have risen up. They announced they could no longer tolerate being under this government any longer. Not only did they made their annoucement but they have joined in our uprising.
Labour unions of the state enterprises have also announced to join the PDRC rally.
Election commission declared refusal to consider whether the government is allowed to borrow money to subsidies rice pledging scheme. However, Khun Suthep addressed the rice farmers that he promises that once the PDRC achieved their goal in over throwing the Thaksin regime. The first task of the people would be to pay all rice farmers immediately.
Corruption is the key to the failure of the rice pledging scheme and now farmers all across the country is suffering from the late payment.
Nobody in this country would continue to accept Yingluck as the Prime Minister anymore.
Tomorrow Khun Suthep will not march but will continue to march again on 23rd.
We would like the provincial PDRC to continue closing city halls.
We will carry on the protest despite the emergency degree.
We urge the international press and media to stop reporting bias stories in favor of the government. We beg you to for once report the truth to the world about our peaceful uprising. Please try to truly understand our fight for a true democracy, for a better future for our country and people.
Nevertheless there are some foreign journalists left who are not bought or lobbied by the thaksin regime, who are still reporting the truth. Such as Michael Yon, who reported today that the state of emergency declaration basically confirms for the demonstrator what they already know: they are winning.
