The power of Gamma is not so much that it gives realistic data on future developments but rather that it enables the construction of a collective cognitive map, amount understanding of the organizational reality and its challenges. People construct their reality according to their naturally limited individual perception. With Gamma collective cognitive maps can be constructed through interactive modeling. This tool thereby makes it possible to develop a common understanding of the overall relation and interplay of activities, constraints, and possibilities of the social system that they are a part of (Donner 1989; Eden, Jones, and Sims 1983; Ulrich and Probst 1991; Unicon 1990; Vester 1991).
