Length-at-maturity has been determined in a few studies examining
male and female gonads, and while these studies have been
restricted by the lack of small fish in the samples, females tend to
mature at a larger size than males. Length at first maturity was estimated
to be approximately 860 mm and 1010 mm total length (TL)
for males and females, respectively (Hogarth, 1976). Similarly, male
wahoo from the Caribbean were estimated to mature at some size
smaller than 935 mm FL, while the length at which 50% of females
are mature (L50) was 1020 mm FL (Brown-Peterson et al., 2000).
