The activity, deactivation, and reactivation of a Pd-Pt/Al2O3
model catalyst under lean gas-engine conditions were studied
with catalytic tests and in situ spectroscopic techniques for different
exhaust gas mixtures. A wide variety of experiments revealed
novel and interesting aspects concerning the influence of different
gas components on activity and durability of the catalyst. The
use of several characterization techniques allowed the correlation
between activity and structural properties of the catalyst. However,
the uncovered phenomena demand further investigations.
