SUMMARY
Schools, classrooms, and teachers create busy, complex environments that trigger complex responses. Some symptoms of learning disabilities may occur only under specific conditions. Some conditions may require immediate medical treatment. some may require psychological or other related services, and some may require specific curricular and instructional approaches and modifications that you can incorporate in your classroom. Knowing all of this, we can reach more students than we reached in the past. The real message is one of hope: there's been a great deal of research on the influence of hope on the human psyche and why positive beliefs are powerful (Lipton, 2005). You should maintain optimism for many reasons, just one of which is that it has powerful positive effects on you and your students (Chang, 2001).
Poverty is a chronic condition caused by an adverse environment that affects mind, body, and soul. Change the environment and you change the mind, body, and soul, too. Eric Jensen
