Drawing inspiration from the industrial age and the French Colonial period, District Eight Design combines influences from design and architecture to create an eclectic line of industrial furnishings, focusing on capturing the form of authentic factory machine parts through the fusion of salvaged vintage materials and reclaimed wood.
Founded in 2010 by Singaporean-Australian Darren Chew, the creative powerhouse behind one of Vietnam’s hippest coffee and retail spaces, L’Usine, District Eight Design originally began as a project to preserve and restore historically significant buildings, warehouses and objects in Ho Chi Minh City (once known as the ‘Paris of the Orient’).
Today, District Eight Design is synonymous with the design and creation of highly sought-after and one-of-a-kind industrial furnishing, and is continuing to receive rave reviews from the international design community.
Showcasing both the Vintage Industrial and Modern Industrial range, District Eight Design’s line of furnishing is imbued with a genuine spirit of time and place with a design ethos to create products that respond to these environments.
