VHSV-specific antibodies were detected by ELISA in sera from
groups inoculated with different doses (106
, 105
, and 104 TCID50
100 mL1 fish1
) of live (Poly(I:C)-VHSV) or formalin-treated (DEPCFT
VHSV) vaccines (Fig. 5). Serum samples were collected from 20
fish from each group following sacrifice 28 d after vaccination. Fish
in the Poly(I:C)-VHSV 6 and FT VHSV 6 groups showed similar
VHSV-specific antibody titers. The absorbance of the Poly(I:C)-
VHSV 6 group ranged from 0.000 to 1.164 (average, 0.728),
whereas that of the DEPC-FT VHSV 6 group ranged from 0.038 to
1.285 (average, 0.58). There was no statistical significance between
Poly(I:C)-VHSV 6 group and DEPC-FT VHSV 6 group. The antibody
titer of the Poly(I:C)-VHSV 5 group ranged from 0.138 to 0.623
(average, 0.342) and was similar to that of the DEPC-FT VHSV 5
group (range, 0.237e0.566; average, 0.441). The OD values of the
Poly(I:C)-VHSV 4 group ranged from 0.093 to 0.833 (average,
0.434). However, the antibody titer of the DEPC-FT VHSV 4 group
was quite low (range, 0.022e0.170; average, 0.078). The antibody
titer of the Poly(I:C)-VHSV 4 group was significantly higher than
that of the DEPC-FT VHSV 4 group. The absorbance of the naïve
group was very low Table 1
