Thereis also a simultaneous demand from consumers for wholesomeand safe products with extended shelf life (in example naturaldye coated antimicrobial dress materials – Fig 4). These require-ments have put pressure on the traditional industries, food andtextile industries, etc., for progressive removal of chemical dyes andadoption of natural alternatives to obtain its goals concerning safeproducts. Dyes extracted from turmeric and fenugreek are not onlysuitable for use as colorant in food items, they additionally impartantimicrobial properties to the substrate. The fenugreek seed dyewas applied on cotton fabric and we found that the dye was stableafter washing also. Also the dye prepared from N. oleander can beused to dye cotton and other plant fibers to prepare textiles andcosmetics products. The antimicrobial activity of these dyes will bea valuable addition for products.
