he NAPSACC program uses a center-based self-assessment instrument based on the NAPSACC guidelines to help child care providers identify and plan nutrition and physical activity changes appropriate for their facility.15 As part of the evaluation of the NAPSACC, baseline assessments of centers' physical activity and nutrition environments were conducted in the fall of 2005 by research staff; data from the physical activity component are presented in this article. All study procedures and activities were approved by the University of North Carolina's Institutional Review Board.
