Polypyrrole macro ion was grafted onto partially ionized cellulose
chain in the presence of an ammonium per sulphate. The
chemical characterization reveals the formation of crystalline PPy
coated cellulose co-polymer with improved electrical conductivity
than cellulose and better hydrophilic than PPy. Further, electrical
resistance of grafted co-polymer decreases linearly with humidity
in 5–95% range and thus implies its potential to serve as a humidity
sensing materials in fabrication electrochemical humidity sensor.
