Similar
observations were made for O. niloticus in rice fields
(Chapman & Fernando 1994; Haroon & Pittman
1997; Rothuis et al. 1998). Detrital aggregate and
plant matter composed 75% and 17%, respectively,
of the diet of O. niloticus in rice fields (Chapman &
Fernando 1994). In intensively cultivated rice fields
at the Co Do experimental station, Rothuis et al.
(1998) found similar figures. Similar observations
were made for C. carpio in rice fields (Chapman &
Fernando 1994; Rothuis et al. 1998).
