The lupin (L. angustifolius) used in the present broiler study was the cultivar Emir, which was grown in Poland in year 1996 and considered to be a low-alkaloid variety (Alloui et al., 1994). The composition of the two basal diets is shown in Table 1. Thenon-lupin diet(dietA)consisted of maize and soyabean meal as the main ingredients, while in the lupin diet (diet B), parts of maize and soya bean meal were replaced by 200g blue lupin/kg.
