Fig. 1A shows the glucose
and xylarabin concentrations in the liquid fraction obtained from
the pretreatment of CAB. The glucose recovery was significantly
higher when using dilute acid pretreatment (approximately 7-fold)
when 0.2 mol/L H2SO4 was used in comparison with the pretreatment
method without sulfuric acid. The glucose concentration in
the liquor when H2SO4 concentrations ranging from 0.4 to
1.0 mol/L were used for pretreatment remained at approximately
7.5 g/L with all H2SO4 concentrations tested. Xylarabin recoverywas also significantly higher (approximately 23-fold) when
0.2 mol/L of H2SO4 was used in comparison with the method that
did not use H2SO4
