Chlorine dioxide (ClO2
, CAS No. 10049-04-4) exists
as a greenish yellow to orange gas at room temperature.
Chlorine dioxide gas is explosive when its concentration
in air exceeds 10% v/v. It is water soluble, and solutions
are quite stable if kept cool and in the dark. It is marketed
and transported as a stabilized aqueous solution,
generally less than 1% w/v (more concentrated forms are
explosive).
