Through their behavior and interactions, parents
communicate their attitudes and feelings about work to their children
(Porfeli et al., 2008), shaping children’s initial beliefs about work and its role.
Termed work centrality, these beliefs refer to the importance with which one
views work in the configuration of one’s life (Kanungo, 1982).
