NOTE: TO ANYONE WHO'S GOING TO ORDER THE APR SPLITTER!
1) tell apr to provide 15 bolts, washers, and nuts for the bumper holes, not 12! thats how many they included in my order.
2) tell them to provide BIGGER washers than previous orders for 3000gt's
3) call and tell them to drill the subframe holes... in case if they forget again with someone else's order.
im starting this thread to show the 97/98 guys what the apr splitter look like on their cars. so far this is how it looks. i still have to drill out the rest of the holes on the splitter. ive only done the sides. its pretty hard to mark the holes since the bumper is very flexible. i have to make sure the splitter will look even on both sides when bolted on.
it was a hard choice between this and the 3sx splitters made by skillard. 3sx charges over 100 for shipping which i thought was too much. i got the carbon fiber splitter for less than that. plus 3sx dont sell the powdercoated black ones anymore.
pros of the 3sx splitter: holes already drilled out, direct bolt on. dont even have to remove the bumper.
cons of the 3sx splitter: no more black powdercoated ones. slightly more expensive than the apr with shipping included.
pros of the apr splitter: carbon fiber, looks better. and slightly cheaper.
cons of the apr splitter: bumper must come off. no holes drilled. hard to mark the correct spot for the holes. apr was supposed to drill out the subframe holes but they forgot to do that with mine =/...
1st gen 3000gt owners are lucky because supercar engineering provides the apr splitters with all holes already drilled. so far there arent any splitters out there for the 1g stealth rt owners yet. for the 99 3000gt owners the apr splitter looks amazing on them. ive seen a forum member's 99 vr4 in person with this splitter.
anyways im not done with it yet. im going to remove the splitter from the bumper and put the bumper back on the car. then install the splitter back on, mark the subframe holes. take it off again and drill subframe holes. then put it back on and i'll be done.
