In June, 2015 CNN reported about the breach of government computers in The White House Office of Personnel Management, those likely to be affected by the breached are put to about 21.5 million people whose trove of personal information, addresses, health and financial history including Social Security numbers and some fingerprints are stored on the breached server. This indicates how vulnerable the world's most powerful government is vulnerable to intrusion of private information which also falls under the broad term of privacy.
The other side of ethical issue the burden of proof falls on us to examine the argument. It is important to preempt that in defense of privacy in the information age, it will be argued that privacy can be better protected now with advance in technology, data encryption level, greater accessibility to information storage and enhanced societal security/policing will lead to safety of privacy. That is completely not true because of the following reasons which constitute my opinion that privacy cannot be well protected in our information age. Globalization and social media has led to the misappropriation of famous person’s name or likeness for personal advantage such as using it to sell products without their permission, that itself is invasion of a person’s privacy because we see that all over social media these day and the question is how do you protect that person whose personality is been used without permission, this also includes disclosure of private facts about a person online.
