there are some social and customs which must always be remembered in thailand
the head is regarded as the highest part of the body
it is not considered polite touch someone is head or a child
even it is meant as a friendly action
at the other extreme the the feet are considered the lowest and important part of the body
in public or with thais one must not point at anything or anyone with the feet
also putting the feet on the table or on a chair is taboo in the company of the locals
if you visit a temple or mosque, you must always remove your shoes, and be suitably attired
female wearing shorts are not allowed in temples or mosques
it is also the custom when visiting the home of a thai to remove the shoes before entering
for thais the common form of greeting is a wai, which is done by placing the palms of the hands together, as prayer and ..... the head slightly forward
