Myanmar's Finance Minister U Win Shein has proposed for higher spending on education, health, water quality, the agricultural sector and power supply in his new budget plan, which was presented to the national-level bicameral legislature Pyidaungsu Hluttaw on January 26. The plan also includes allocations to increase the salaries of civil servants and military personnel with a government spending of MMK2.902trn (USD2.83bn), according to Shein. The implementation of the proposal is set to raise the country's foreign debt and the budget deficit, though Shein insists that they will remain at acceptable levels
