My dream job would have to be a journalist or a reporter. I’ve always admired the work journalists/reporters do. They bring valuable information to people from all over the world, they are honest and trustworthy (or at least they should be) and they get to meet new and (more or less) interesting people while traveling across the world.
You don’t have to waste your life trying to get a degree to be a journalist/reporter (but wouldn’t hurt to have one, just in case) you do need good social skills, a good attitude towards your work and you need to be able to write interesting texts.
There are many different types of journalists/reporters; you can write about celebrities for a tabloid or write your own column for a newspaper. I would like to have my own column some day but I would also like to be a critic (because that way I could see a lot of new movies, listen to the newest bands and read highly anticipated books, but there is a downfall; I would also have to read/listen/watch things I don’t like). it would also be interesting to be a correspondent for a while (especially in New York) or to report from the mountains of Afghanistan. The working hours can sometimes be quite difficult to adjust in your life (night shifts and all that stuff) but it’s a minor thing.
The pay and the assets of a journalist/reporter are good and it’s a job which isn’t going to fade away, because people just have to know what all the celebs are doing all the time and I’m sure that there’s plenty of crises and catastrophes to write about.
