he results at the 1:1 and 1:10 blood dilutions were positive for all blood detection tests on each substrate with the exception of luminol on treated wood. All of the luminol tests on pressure treated wood were inconclusive as a result of luminescence of the entire piece of wood (Table 1). As a result of the intensity of the luminescence induced by Bluestar®, blood was easily distinguishable from the treated woods illumination. The luminol-induced luminescence could be ostensibly linked to copper salts being used in the process of “treating” wood [6]. At the 1:100 blood dilution, all results were positive except for PT and Bluestar®/PT on the cement block. A possibility for negative results on the cement block may be the fact that cement block is porous.
