For these and other reasons, it is essential that schools focus
both on the evidence base for their programs and on the outcomes in their particular school. Hospitals might be held accountable for their success rates with various conditions, but they
would never dream of implementing procedures discordant with
rigorous, widely accepted research. Similarly, schools should be
expected to use methods known to be effective in general and
then to make certain that in their particular school implementation of those methods is of sufficient quality to ensure progress
on the state assessments.
