In practice, guavas are graded in accordance with peel colour, firmness, days from fruit set, and total soluble solids/acidity ratio. Estimation of fruit maturity through firmness has been well developed by exploring the texture response to external force and can be incorporated as a grading engine in fruit sorting . Most of the research in using an impact test for estimation of fruit maturity uses the impact indices proposed . Estimation based on those parameters may not result in asignificantly accurate classification. The accuracy of maturity estimation can be improved by combining a falling impact test and adequate statistical analyses
