Waste paper can typically be recycled back into paper products. However, shredded paper can not as the cellulosic fiber has been cut too short. In fact, many paper recyclers refuse shredded office paper from their facilities. ECO Research Institute (ERI) developed technology to dry grind waste paper to the micron size range and that powdered recyclate is then used as a filler in thermoplastics. Using this technology reduces carbon-dioxide emissions by as much as 80% compared to using traditional thermoplastics while also enhancing mechanicalproperties.
