Research on teachers’ grading practices has reached conflict ion conclusions about the criteria teacher actually use in assessing student work. In one study, high school science teacher report that of four process criteria studied [class attendance, effort, behavior in the classroom, and work habits], only effort played a part in determining students’ grades. The other three factors were seldom used [Feldman, Kropf,& Alibrabdi, 1996]. However, another study found that class participation and attendance consider by 43% of elementary teacher and nearly 70% of high school teacher in assessing grades [Cizek,Rachor, & Fitzgerald,1995]
