Thai Desserts In Great Celemony
There are meaningly 7 - 9 Thai desserts normally used in the great celemonies like Thai Traditional Wedding or even special dishes for the royal or VIP guests. Most of the desserts contain the beautiful name like Thong Yip (Thong = Gold, Yip= Grant, Get), Thong Yod (Yod = drop). So these desserts always serve in the great celemonies or some serve to the royal family only (in the past) like Jah Mongkut and it's very hard to find this dessert in the market at the present.
Thong Yip If it's good Thong Yip will never smell of yolks or eggs and it has sweet taste. Thong Yip means getting rich by gold means wealth in Thai. It make of yolks from duck's eggs, coconut milk then boil it in syrup. The flower shape comes from using figer tips.
Thong Yod means continuous wealth because it means gold drop continuously equal to getting richer and sustain wealth. The main ingredients are same as Thong Yip but the method of making its shape is different. The chief use their own technic to make it like a teardrop - shape dessert.
Foy Thong means long lasting love and good fortune because of its like a golden noodle which contains a positive meaning in long-lasting, although, in China. And of course it has a very good taste.

Med Kha Noon means you will get supported by the other people. Because the word "Noon" in Thai means support to success. It made of rice floor mixed with boiled green peas, and cover by sweet syrup.
Thong Ake means one with life or good one in life. It is meaningful for bride and groom because it means faithful. The ingredients are eggs, coconut milk and flour and some chiefs put the gold sheet on it.
Khanom Chan or Thai Layer Cake means advancement in career and continual success. This dessert I really don't like it when I was young. It likes putting the different colors of flour sheets but has the same taste. But now as some people develop it by making it less sweet, smell sweet and slightly different taste in each layer. It taste very nice!!
Jah Mongkut means superiority like a King. Because Mongkut means crown in Thai, so in the past this dessert served to the Royal family only. And even now it's very rare selling in the market.
