So last Thursday the 3rd, Belinda needed to compare the data for one of our stars so she could figure out how far the g-r data she got was shifted. It turns out that we had data for completely different stars. She was using a picture of the M35 cluster, while I grabbed data from the SDSS database based on coordinates I found. It turns out that because the SDSS coordinates are based on Julian date 2000, the coordinates I was using and the coordinates I needed were off by about 3 degrees.
Since I was using Matlab and Graphical Analysis to process my data, I decided to find the correct coordinates and start over. I searched for M35 on the SDSS image search, and found the coordinates that the SDSS uses for the center of M35. Then I went back to the SQL search and requested data for 500 stars in the M35 cluser, centered at about ra=92.3 deg and dec=24.3 deg. Using the data for g, r, and g-r, I calculated things as follows:
