Notably, literature from the psychology and nonspecified
disciplines frequently used the terms personal
coaching or coaching rather than health coaching.
When this occurred, the authors usually implied a
broad focus toward any life issue of concern to the
client, such as career development or satisfaction,
parenting, or the attainment of personal or professional
goals. Consequently, fewer references to health
and wellness were found in these articles. When they
were present, however, literature from the psychology
discipline was more likely to focus upon issues of
mental health or well-being than the articles from
other professions.
