Since the 1960s, video-surveillance systems have evolved in a
parallel line to their automation grade and three generations can
be clearly differentiated, as stated by Räty (2010): (1st)
(1960–1980) Analog CCTVs and low level of automation. (2nd)
(1980–2000) Digital CCTVs and computer vision processing. (3rd)
(2000 – nowadays) Semi-automated video-surveillance systems.
