In the process of developing the agroecological zone system, land mapping units in land system maps
were classified into several unique polygons based on slopes classes and soil types (Amien, 1998). With the aid
of expert system, the relevant information on land (soil) and climate were interpreted to provide the specific
information of each zone as zoning system for forest, agroforestry, perennial crop plantation and annual crop
farming (Table 1). The results of the interpretation also included temperature and moisture regimes as climatic
regimes.
