This is a new hotel: it looks fresh and clean and it is both. I booked a double room and was pleased with it, it's facilities and it's lay out! From air conditioning to a hair dryer and two bottles of free water daily- the house keepers take excellent care if the room their maintenance of the rooms are fantastic. The hotel has a restaurant where you can get breakfast - the breakfast is good with a few choices! I didn't eat until the last day and made my order after 30 minutes I asked where was my order/ it had been forgotten!! - as I was the only customer in the restaurant this is without a doubt poor service!!
The reception staff - some while helpful when asked they are not welcoming and can appear to distance themselves from guests- I have been to Bangkok before and know my way around but they didn't know this and at no point asked me if I needed anything! I checked in ultra early but they knew my arrival time as I had sent them that information - I arrived at 8:30 am after a 20 hour flight! I was told by the male receptionist that I would have to wait until 10:00 when the room would be cleaned (I could cope with this no problem) it took an hour for the guy in the kitchen to come out and tell me where the toilets are- which was really good of him considering that's a receptionists job) at 10:00 i asked him again when would my room be ready- the response was perhaps one more hours!! I was unhappy with this - having already waited 1.5 hours- I requested an alternative room to which he replied "it's booked" I suggested as maybe the other guests are not here yet that I have that room- he agreed! I appreciate I may have seem like a pushy guest but long haul travel gets the better of you and if you work in hospitality you should be able to solve these problems without prompting from guests!
The hotel itself is a 10 minute walk from khao San road 30 minute walk from the grand palace and other attractions in the area- the bus stop (9baht to travel ) is 2 minute walk and you can get the bus to nearly all the sights- the staff at hotel will tell you which bus to take. The fact that it is near but not on khao Dan road is a matter of choice - on khao San road there is no peace and quiet there is always something happening! Stayed here gives you a choice of whether you want lively or quiet ! However it doesn't allow for you to quickly pop out and grab a massage or a last minute gift!
To be honest while the staff are all polite they need to more lessons in how to treat customers, I don't think I would stay here again.
On the plus side they didn't charge me for late and early check in!
